Eric Terrell Appointed Superintendent of Madison City Schools

We are pleased to congratulate Eric Terrell and the Madison City Board of Education on his appointment as the new superintendent. This is a meaningful moment for the students, families, teachers, and staff who make our community feel like home.

Madison City Schools begins this next chapter with a leader who knows the district, its schools, and the people behind them. At Making Smiles Orthodontics, we are grateful to be part of a community that cares so strongly about its children.

Strong leadership brings reassurance for families and steady support for the people working in every school each day.

Eric Terrell Named New Superintendent for Madison City Schools

Terrell stepped into the interim superintendent role after Ed Nichols retired on June 30. The Board of Education then selected him as the district’s next superintendent, a decision supported by strong feedback from parents, employees, and board members.

Local coverage of the board’s unanimous vote shared that Terrell was a clear choice for the position. That kind of support matters because it speaks to the trust he has built across Madison City Schools.

For local families, this appointment brings welcome continuity. Mr. Terrell understands the daily work of helping students learn, grow, and feel supported.

A Leadership Career Built Inside the Madison School System

Terrell is beginning his 23rd year with the district. His career includes teaching and administrative work at Bob Jones High School, James Clemens High School, Liberty Middle School, and Discovery Middle School.

He also worked as an assistant principal at both Bob Jones and James Clemens. From 2015 through 2017, he was principal of Discovery Middle School.

Most recently, Terrell spent six years as assistant superintendent with Dr. Nichols and three years with Superintendent Robby Parker. The district’s superintendent information page reflects the close connection he has maintained with Madison’s schools and families.

A superintendent who has worked across elementary, middle, and high school communities understands how each stage shapes a child’s path.

Supporting Students and Families Across Madison City Schools

We are honored to serve and support the Madison City Schools community, including elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Madison. Our practice sees each day how much care, encouragement, and time local families give their children.

Rainbow Elementary School holds a special place in our neighborhood. Its close proximity to our office makes it familiar to many of our patient families, and we appreciate the welcoming school community it provides.

Dr. Sydney Simpson shares that she is honored to continue serving children in the Madison City School District. We are proud to support the families and educators who help children feel confident at every stage of growth.

Looking Ahead With Gratitude

We congratulate Eric Terrell on this well-earned appointment and wish him every success as superintendent of Madison City Schools. Our appreciation also goes to the teachers, staff, students, and families who make Madison a special place.

We look forward to continuing to support local children and families for many years to come.
